Our Heritage

At Blackstone Dental we are proud of the legacy and heritage that we continue on. Our roots began in 1977 when the young of the 3 Black brothers, Jerry Black, graduated from dental school and joined his two brothers Brent and Randy in practice. They began their journey on State street in Murray.

As their practice continued to grow, Brent, Randy, and Jerry moved their practice to Holladay and practiced as BBB Dentistry on the corner of 5600 South and Highland Drive. The 3 brothers were always known for their good laughs, corny jokes, and the care and love they had for each other and their patients. They practiced together for 32 years in that location.

In 2009, Dr. Randy was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and passed away that fall. At this same time, Randy’s nephew and Jerry’s son Brian graduated from the University of the Pacific and joined the practice. He worked side by side with his dad for one year.

In 2010, Dr. Jerry was called to serve as a mission president for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and made the transition out of dentistry. A family friend introduced Dr. Jerry to Dr. Bill Sundberg and he continued the legacy that Dr. Jerry built.

Dr. Sundberg also continues the legacy of dentistry in his family. His grandfather practiced dentistry in Midvale for over 35 years, and was followed by Dr Sundberg’s uncle Bill Lundberg. Dr. Sundberg continues to care for some of the same patients that his grandfather saw throughout his career.

Drs. Black and Sundberg continue to carry the legacy that has been established. They have worked side by side since 2010 and have loved the partnership they have established.

2027 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of our dental practice. Although we have changed locations and updated our practice name, our legacy remains the same. In contrast to the current takeover of corporate dental chains, we are proud to be a family-owned and operated dental practice that strives to build lasting relationships with our patients and provide top notch quality care. We look forward to continuing this legacy on for decades to come!
